Travel to Stirling

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are well connected with Stirling by public transport.

From Edinburgh airport:

There’s a shuttle bus (Airlink, Service 100) from just outside the airport terminal. This service will bring you to either of Haymarket and Waverley train stations. From either of those you can get a train to Stirling (if you leave the shuttle at Haymarket you’ll save some minutes). Alternatively, you can take the Tram from the airport to Edinburgh Park Station and get onto a train for Stirling there.

From Glasgow airport:

There’s a shuttle bus (First Group, Service 500 or 77) from outside the airport terminal. You want to get off the bus at Glasgow Queen Street train station. (N.B.: The bus also calls at Glasgow Central—a different train station and not the one you want.) From Glasgow Queen Street you can get a train to Stirling.

Travelling between train stations and the campus

There are two railway stations close to the University of Stirling: the Stirling train station and the Bridge of Allan train station.

Stirling train station is the easiest option to complete the journey by bus or taxi. The Unilink shuttle bus between Stirling centre, the train station and the main University campus is the one of the handiest and most regular services. Most bus services to the campus run from either just outside Stirling’s Rail Station or a two-minute walk away, in Murray Place.

  • 53: Whins of Milton – University (via Stirling City Centre)
  • 54: Stirling – Stirling (via Cornton, Bridge of Allan, University, Causewayhead)
  • 54A: Stirling – Stirling (via Causewayhead, University, Bridge of Allan, Cornton)

Bridge of Allan train station is the easiest option to complete the journey by walking or cycling. Our Stirling campus is a 40-minute walk from Stirling train station and a 25-minute walk from Bridge of Allan train station.

You can also rent a bike at Bridge of Allan with nextbike. You can register in https://www.nextbike.co.uk and download the app.

Getting around campus

Workshop Venue:

The workshop will take place at the Postgraduate Research Zone at Level 3 in the university library. Upon arrival, you will need to register at the reception in order to access the library. Internet access while on campus

The campus is covered with Eduroam signal, so you should be able to access it with your existing accounts. If you’re not an Eduroam user please follow the instructions on https://www.stir.ac.uk/about/faculties-and-services/information-services-and-library/wi-fi-services

The room comes equipped with a projector. Please send us your slides by lunchtime on Sunday 23rd June. (Email to: mapuk.sasp@gmail.com). You can connect your own device but please note you might need the required adapter if your device doesn’t have a VGA output.
